The Investigation Catalyst Matrix displays, showing the coupled process interactions and their timing, provide the basis for analysts to find problems, hazards, risk raisers, needs, impediments or opportunities for improvement. We will call such findings Problems here.

By systematically examining each action, link and EB pair and set, using the guidance provided, analysts are led to each weakness or opportunity for improvement in the system operation. Once identified, defined and evaluated, changes can be devised and evaluated for each problem impeding better performance, using the tools provided.

An important part of this process is the evaluation of the significance of both the problems, and changes to address them. Investigation Catalyst offers default evaluation criteria and ranking tools users can employ for evaluating both problems and options for change. Users can edit the defaults to substitute their assessment criteria if desired.
