Copy Objects in a Matrix

Users can copy Event Blocks or Comments in a matrix to another location in the matrix, or to another matrix. This can be useful when an actor repeats an action at two or more different times, when action in one matrix needs to be copied to another matrix to prepare for subtask assignments or showing relationships among more than one occurrence, or when similar comments apply to several actions on a matrix.
Copy event blocks:

To copy one or more EBs in an active window to another location on the matrix or another matrix.

  1. click on EB or shift click on more than one EB to specify selection to copy
  2. press Command + C to copy the selected EB(s) to the clipboard
    • NOTE: All the contents in a New Event Block Panel are copied to the clipboard; links are not copied.
  3. position the "copy to" matrix where the EB(s) should be inserted
  4. click somewhere in a white space on the repositioned matrix
  5. press Command + V to add EB(s) to active window
    • NOTE: The new EB(s) will be aligned next to the Actor column. Manually resequence them, or click on Order Event Blocks by time icon in the tool bar to reposition them in sequence
  6. select a new EB
  7. press Command + I to view contents of new EB
  8. edit begin and end times, and any other entries as needed to conform to new EB data
  9. manuallly reposition edited EB(s), or click on Order Event Blocks byTime icon in the tool bar to reposition them in sequence

Copy Comments

To copy one or more Comments in an active window to another location on the matrix or another matrix:

  1. Click on the commment or comments to copy
  2. press Command + C to copy the selected Comment(s) to the clipboard
  3. position the "copy to" matrix where the Comment(s) should be inserted
  4. click somewhere in a white space on the repositioned matrix
  5. press Command + V to make selected Comment(s) appear in the active window
  6. Reposition Comment(s) as needed
